[02-09-2026] Butte County, CA – Woman Injured in Crash in Highway 70 Construction Zone in Oroville

A woman was injured and rescued from her vehicle after a crash in a Highway 70 construction zone in the Wicks Corner area in Oroville on Monday afternoon, February 9, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on the northbound State Route 70 and northbound State Route 149 split.

Officers arrived to find a gold SUV disabled in the center median against the concrete wall, with the female driver trapped inside. A work truck was also found north of the crash site, on the right shoulder, with moderate rear-end damage.

CHP’s preliminary investigation revealed that Caltrans was conducting roadway work with lane closures and slowed or stopped traffic in the area. The driver of the work truck had been stopped for several seconds when the gold SUV rear-ended it.

The driver of the SUV needed to be extricated and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The driver of the work truck reported neck pain.
