[06-29-2026] Ventura County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Tesla Crashes Into Cafe at Simi Valley Shopping Center

One person was killed after a white Tesla crashed into a cafe at a Target shopping center on Tierra Rejada Road in Simi Valley on Monday afternoon, June 29, 2026.

According to authorities, firefighters responded around 2:30 p.m. to the 51 Tierra Rejada Road location, where they found multiple victims.

Investigators said the Tesla driver lost control, drove over a curb, and struck a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk outside Urbane Cafe. The vehicle continued into outdoor seating areas before coming to a stop.

The pedestrian, a 79-year-old woman from Agoura Hills, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Four additional people sustained minor injuries, and one person suffered serious injuries.

The Tesla driver, a Thousand Oaks resident, was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries, along with one child who was inside the vehicle.

Authorities said impairment is not suspected, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
