One person was killed while another was critically injured after a vehicle struck two pedestrians late Monday evening, January 27, 2025, in La Habra.
The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of N. Hacienda Road, according to the La Habra Police Department. Officers arrived at the scene to find a driver who had struck two pedestrians. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Paramedics declared one of the pedestrians dead on the spot. The victim has not yet been identified. The second pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities stated that DUI is not suspected as a factor in the collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, pedestrian fatalities in the state increased from 1,013 in 2020 to 1,108 in 2021, a 9.4% jump in just one year.
