What To Do After A Car Accident In Stockton, California

Traffic accidents can have debilitating consequences. However, if you are still able to, you must act straight away to protect your safety and legal rights:

  • Prioritize Safety — To prevent further accidents, try to move your vehicle to the side of the road if possible. While you wait for the police, turn on your hazard lights to warn others.
  • Remain Calm — Keep your cool and pay attention. Check for injuries. Refrain from taking responsibility for the crash when speaking with the other parties involved.
  • Call 911 — Notify the authorities of the collision. They will record the accident through an official report, which can help support your claim in the future.
  • Gather Information — Exchange information with the other party, including names, contact information, and insurance details. Take photos of all the vehicles involved, noting any damage and the license plates.
  • Do Not Take Responsibility — Explain the collision in detail to the police, but refrain from saying anything that might be seen as an admission of fault.
  • Seek Medical Attention — No matter how small the injuries appear, get medical help as soon as you can. Some symptoms may not appear immediately. You will also need medical records to back up your claim.
  • Notify Your Insurance Provider — Notify your insurance provider about the mishap. To properly report the crash, adhere to their guidelines.
  • Avoid Handling Insurance Adjusters By Yourself — If the other party’s insurance adjuster contacts you, provide them with only the basic information they need. Always get legal advice before signing anything or accepting an offer.
  • Preserve The Evidence — Make sure all relevant evidence is documented, such as the police report, medical bills, the other driver’s details, and medical records.
  • Call (888) 488-1391 To Reach Arash Law — Our top-rated California car accident lawyers are able to assess the strength of your case, bargain with insurance providers, and provide you with legal advice when filing a personal injury lawsuit.
