[04-25-2025] San Diego County, CA – 12-Year-Old Girl Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision at Encinitas Boulevard and Village Square Drive

A 12-year-old girl was killed after being struck during a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Village Square Drive in Encinitas on Friday evening, April 25, 2025.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene at approximately 6:51 p.m.

Preliminary details indicated that a 44-year-old man driving a Nissan Xterra westbound collided with a southbound Ford Fusion, also driven by a 44-year-old man. Following the collision, the Xterra struck the girl as she walked in the crosswalk.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers remained at the location and were not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by North Coastal Station Traffic investigators and the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. Authorities stated that alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash.
