[08-12-2025] Alameda County, CA – Elderly Pedestrian Killed in Collision on Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont

A 76-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Fremont early Tuesday morning, August 12, 2025.

According to the Fremont Police Department, officers responded just after 5:00 a.m. to Paseo Padre Parkway and Capitol Avenue following a report of a major injury collision.

Police said the pedestrian was attempting to cross mid-block south of Capitol Avenue while pushing a shopping cart when a northbound vehicle struck both the person and the cart near the raised center median. A second, unidentified vehicle also appeared to have struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name has not yet been released.

Authorities said the first driver initially left the scene but returned shortly after and is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.
