[03-24-2025] San Diego County, CA – Semi-Truck Crash Causes Major Delays and Injuries on SR-78 in Oceanside

A semi-truck crash involving multiple vehicles caused significant traffic delays on State Route 78 in Oceanside on Monday morning, March 24, 2025.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Hunter Gerber, the incident occurred at around 7:40 a.m. when a westbound semi-truck on SR-78 near Jefferson Drive struck a car for unknown reasons.

The truck then swerved left, collided with another vehicle, and both the semi-truck and the second vehicle overturned.

As the truck crashed into the center divider, it struck an additional vehicle and sent debris flying, which hit two more vehicles.

Photos from the scene showed a cement truck overturned and sprawled across both directions of SR-78, with its body pressed against the center divider.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. Two other individuals were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
