[03-31-2025] Santa Cruz County, CA – Pedestrian Critically Injured In Crash At Highway 1 And River Street

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 1 and River Street in Santa Cruz on Monday night, March 31, 2025.

According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. when a northbound vehicle on Highway 1 collided with a pedestrian crossing the roadway.

Initial investigations indicate that the pedestrian might have been attempting to cross against a red light.

Emergency responders administered life-saving measures before transporting the injured individual to Dominican Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to a trauma center for further treatment.
