What To Do After A Car Accident In Sierra County

The next steps you take after a crash are critical. Our car accident lawyers recommend the following to protect your health and your rights to fair compensation:

  1. Call 911 And Move To Safety — Check yourself for injuries. Move your vehicle to the side of the road if possible and contact the authorities to report the accident. An official police report on the accident may be crucial to your claim.
  2. Seek Medical Attention — Always get first aid from paramedics. Get a full check-up in the hospital or from your doctor as soon as you can. Medical attention can prevent injuries from worsening and detect internal injuries that may not show immediate symptoms.
  3. Cooperate With The Authorities — Cooperate with the police, provide factual details about what happened, and describe the collision accurately. Never make assumptions or speculate about the cause of the accident without consulting an experienced car accident lawyer.
  4. Exchange Information — You will need the names, phone numbers, and insurance information of the other driver(s) involved in the accident. Take pictures of the vehicles, license plates, and any relevant evidence at the scene.
