[04-08-2025] Alameda County, CA – Elderly Woman Killed, Driver Injured in Back-to-Back Collisions on Dyer Street in Union City

An elderly woman was killed and a driver was seriously injured in back-to-back collisions on Dyer Street near Cabello Drive in Union City on Tuesday night, April 8, 2025.

According to the Union City Police Department, at around 8:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to Dyer Street following reports of two consecutive crashes involving a pedestrian and two vehicles.

The initial collision involved a driver striking a pedestrian. When the driver exited the vehicle to check on the pedestrian, both the pedestrian and the driver were struck by a second vehicle.

Officers arrived to find both the pedestrian and the first driver suffering from major injuries. The pedestrian, identified as 81-year-old Evelyn S. of Union City, was pronounced dead at the scene. The first driver was transported to a nearby hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

The second driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The UPD is investigating the incident.
