What To Do After A Car Accident In Wheatland, CA

A car accident can be a traumatic and overwhelming experience. In the moments that follow, it’s important to take the right steps to protect your well-being and strengthen any potential legal claim. Here’s what you should do immediately after a crash:

  1. Move To A Safe Location — If it’s safe to do so, move your vehicle out of traffic to prevent further accidents.
  2. Call 911, Even If You Feel Fine — Emergency responders can check for hidden injuries, and police can document the accident. However, officers may not respond to minor crashes. If they don’t, you may need to file a report with the local police or DMV to protect your legal rights.
  3. Exchange Information — Collect the other driver’s name, address, phone number, driver’s license number, insurance details, and vehicle information. If there are witnesses, get their contact details as well.
  4. Gather Evidence — Take photos and videos of the accident scene, including vehicle damage, license plates, road conditions, skid marks, and any visible injuries.
  5. Seek Medical Treatment — Additionally, it’s important to seek further medical attention, as some injuries, like concussions or internal trauma, may not be immediately apparent but can worsen over time. Furthermore, shock can mask the pain from injuries, and having medical records from the time of the accident can support your case later.
  6. Consult With Our Wheatland Car Accident Attorneys — Before speaking with insurance companies, contact Arash Law at (888) 488-1391. An experienced attorney will protect your rights, handle negotiations, and ensure you receive the maximum compensation possible.
