A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Main Street near Sandy Lane in Oakley late Sunday night, April 27, 2025.
According to city spokesperson Danielle Navarro, officers were dispatched around 11:00 p.m. and found the pedestrian down in the roadway with significant trauma. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and submitted a blood sample for testing. No arrest was made.
Witnesses told police the pedestrian was in the middle of the road in complete darkness when the collision occurred. Investigators believe the pedestrian was unhoused and residing near the area.
The incident remains under investigation.
