[05-09-2025] San Joaquin County, CA โ€“ Pedestrian Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash on Wilson Way in Stockton

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Stockton on Friday morning, May 9, 2025.

CHP officers responded to the scene on Wilson Way, just south of Belvedere Avenue, where they found a victim in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian later died from their injuries.

Witnesses at the scene provided a detailed description of the suspect vehicle, despite the absence of a license plate number. Investigators were able to use that information to identify the vehicle and trace it to a residence on Vine Street in Stockton.

Officers located the suspect vehicle at the residence, noting visible damage consistent with a recent hit-and-run. The driver was subsequently arrested.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the suspect, who is now facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.

The incident remains under investigation.

  • Approximately 24% of cyclist fatalities in 2022 involved hit-and-run accidents. Among the 1,105 cyclists who died, 265 were hit-and-run victims.

The number of fatal hit-and-run crashes increased by 0.5% compared to the previous year. Hit-and-run pedestrian deaths increased by 79, or 4.3%, while pedal cyclist deaths rose by 40, or 18%.
