[05-10-2025] Kern County, CA โ€“ One Killed, Two Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash on Hughes Lane in Bakersfield

One man was killed and two others were injured following a two-vehicle crash that caused an SUV to overturn in Bakersfield on Saturday night, May 10, 2025.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the collision occurred around 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Hughes Lane and Holden Way.

Investigators said an SUV traveling southbound on Hughes Lane attempted to turn onto Holden Way and entered the path of a northbound vehicle, resulting in a broadside crash.

The impact caused the SUV to overturn, pinning one of its occupants beneath the vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man in the SUV suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the second vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police stated that speed does not appear to be a factor. Authorities are investigating whether drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
