What To Do After Getting Injured In A Hit-And-Run Accident
A hit-and-run accident can leave you feeling overwhelmed, but taking the right steps immediately can help protect your health and legal rights. If you are able, follow these guidelines to support your claim and assist authorities in locating the driver:
- Collect Information
If possible, note the make, model, color, and license plate number of the vehicle that struck you. Take photos of the car and the accident scene. This evidence can help identify the driver. - Notify the Authorities
Call the police right away. An official police report can support your case and is often required when filing a claim. You can request a copy of the report later from the California DMV or the responding law enforcement agency. - Obtain Witness Information
If there are any witnesses, gather their names and contact details. Their statements may help confirm your account of the incident. - Seek Medical Care
