[05-13-2025] Sacramento County, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Southbound I-5 Near Elk Grove Boulevard in Elk Grove

A male pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Elk Grove on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 1:13 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5, just north of Elk Grove Boulevard.

For reasons still under investigation, the man was reportedly standing in a traffic lane when he was hit by a car. CHP stated that the driver was unable to avoid the collision.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and called 911 following the crash.

No other injuries were reported. Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the driver.

The incident remains under investigation.
