Truck Accident Statistics
Large trucks are used every day to transport goods across the country. These vehicles are much bigger and heavier than regular cars, which means accidents involving them can cause more serious harm.
In 2023, there were 5,375 fatal crashes involving large trucks in the United States. This was an 8.4 percent decrease from the number recorded in 2022. Even with this recent drop, the number is still 43 percent higher than it was ten years ago.
The data shows that while there has been some progress in reducing truck-related fatalities in the short term, the overall trend over the past decade points to an increase in deadly crashes.
