[08-03-2025] San Diego County, CA โ€“ One Killed, Nine Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash on I-15 Near Camino del Norte

A four-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 near the Carmel Mountain Ranch neighborhood in San Diego left one person dead and up to nine others injured on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 9:00 a.m. on the southbound side of I-15 near Camino del Norte.

Initial reports indicate the collision began in the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane involving three vehicles, with a fourth vehicle later striking one of the involved cars.

Officer Michael Meza of CHP stated that injuries ranged from minor to major. It was not immediately clear whether the person who died at the scene was included in the injury count. Some of those injured were minors, and CHP was continuing to follow up with hospitals.

Caltrans reopened the southbound I-15 HOV lanes north of Camino del Norte shortly before noon.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
