Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 59 south of Washington Road, west of Chowchilla in Merced County on Sunday night, September 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 11:00 p.m. A 30-year-old man was driving northbound in a 2016 Toyota Camry, while a 28-year-old woman was driving southbound in a 2022 Toyota Camry. The womanโs vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the manโs car.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. CHP reported that it is not known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
