Truck Accident Statistics

Large trucks play a critical role in transporting goods, but their size and weight make collisions with smaller vehicles particularly hazardous. According to the National Safety Council (NSC), there were 5,375 fatal crashes involving large trucks in 2023 nationwide, representing an 8.4 percent decrease from 2022.

Despite this short-term decline, fatal truck crashes have increased by 43 percent over the past decade. These statistics show that while there have been temporary improvements, the long-term trend reflects a growing number of deadly incidents involving large trucks, highlighting the ongoing risks these vehicles pose on U.S. roads.
