Truck Accident Statistics

Large trucks are essential for transporting goods, but their size and weight make crashes with smaller vehicles especially dangerous. According to the National Safety Council (NSC), there were approximately 5,375 fatal crashes involving large trucks in the United States in 2023, representing an 8.4 percent decrease from 2022.

Despite this short-term drop, fatal truck crashes have risen by 43 percent over the past decade. These figures indicate that, although there have been temporary improvements, the long-term trend shows an increasing number of deadly incidents involving large trucks, emphasizing the ongoing risks they present on U.S. roadways.
