[02-15-2025] One Killed, Another Injured in Sand Rail Crash at Glamis Recreational AreaA 56-year-old man was killed, and a 62-year-old driver sustained major injuries in a Sand Rail crash at the Glamis Off-Highway Recreational Area in Imperial County on Saturday afternoon, February 15, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:54 p.m. when the 56-year-old man was driving a Sand Rail and collided with another Sand Rail under circumstances that are still under investigation.

The 56-year-old driver died from his injuries at the scene, according to CHP. The 62-year-old driver of the second Sand Rail suffered major injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Additionally, a 12-year-old passenger in one of the Sand Rails sustained minor injuries, as reported by CHP.

CHP confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing restraints at the time of the crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
